Job Description

Job Summary:

The Dock Worker is responsible for the efficient and safe handling of dairy products during the loading and unloading process. This role ensures that all products are handled with care to maintain quality and safety standards. The Dock Worker will work closely with the logistics team to ensure timely and accurate shipments, while executing daily shipping and receiving duties and the movement of finished goods.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Forklift Operation - Operate forklift equipment to maneuver products in a quality, safe, and efficient manner. Move products by loading/unloading shipments and storing products in appropriate storage areas. Safely operate and maintain material moving equipment such as order pickers, reach trucks, and motorized pallet jacks. Participate in re-certification for forklift operation, as required.
  • Picking/Scanning - Prioritize orders based on instructions indicated on picking sheets and understand how the order is processed from the time the product is received to the time it is shipped. Pick orders by reading pick sheets and handheld RF unit, complete necessary paperwork, move products to the shipping area, and operate bar code scanners during order picking as needed. Follow the correct picking procedures: Match paperwork with product to ensure accuracy in the order. Ensure proper pallets are used per customer requirements.
  • Inventory Management - Reconcile inventory counts (case and pallet count verification) and verify products when needed.
  • Equipment Maintenance - Complete the pre-shift inspection for forklift, including battery maintenance.
  • Cleaning Tasks - Sweep and maintain a clean work environment.
  • Safety and Compliance - Adhere to all safety protocols and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards. Report any unsafe work conditions that might occur.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Forklift Certification preferred.
  • Experience: 1-2 years previous experience in a warehouse role within the food or dairy industry is preferred. Prior knowledge of ERP/RF systems preferred.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. Ability to use hands/arms to reach, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and move heavy materials, stand for long periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Work Environment: Ability to work in a fast-paced, refrigerated environment. May be exposed to wet and humid conditions. Will work near moving mechanical parts, high and/or confining places. Willingness to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
