About the Role
The Company is seeking a Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to provide strategic leadership for its information security program. The CISO will be responsible for a wide range of essential functions, including but not limited to, policy development, compliance, awareness, incident response, risk management, and operational IT security. This role demands a proven track record in information security, with a focus on guiding and implementing security technology and practices. The successful candidate will work closely with the CIO and senior leadership to define security objectives, build a strong security organization, and ensure the security program supports the institution's academic, research, and administrative activities. Key responsibilities for the CISO include leading security planning processes, assessing security controls, and staying abreast of security issues and regulatory changes in higher education. The role also involves mentoring the security team, leading security initiatives, and creating education and awareness programs. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8 years of information security experience, including a management or leadership role, and hold or be willing to obtain CISSP, CISM, or CISA certifications. A background in security frameworks such as ISO/IEC 27001 and NIST, as well as experience in incident response management, is essential. The CISO should be an articulate and persuasive leader with strong interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with stakeholders at all levels and navigating the political landscape of the organization.
